Robert Partridge

My interest in fishing started when I was about 13. I was lucky enough to have a lake and tackle shop near to where I lived. I started with some second hand gear going to the lake with a few school mates catching Rudd, Roach, Bream and Perch. Every now and again we would get a lift to a pond a bit further away which held some good Tench and small Carp.

At 15 I brought my first carp rod and reel, like most young lads I would cast it out whilst float fishing. My first Carp was an 8lb common unlike my current PB's which are a 41lb Mirror with a common of the 29lb 10oz but to me then it was massive and the best thing ever. I had done a bit of match fishing for my local club, but when I got a car I wanted to fish for bigger and better. It was at this point I really started to take an interest in the Carp side of fishing. Unfortunately at 18 other things took my interest - pubs, clubs and drink. It would be 7 years later when I would pick up a Carp rod again. I still spoke to a few of the lads that did a fair bit of fishing so it wasn't long before I was getting very much back into it. I was surprised by how much things had changed.

Well that was 11 years ago now and I am still enjoying my Carp fishing and the occasional competition just as much. There's nothing quite like it.

I wish you all the best success using Whealy Fishy Baits.
